World is changing, are we? Somerville, MA approves polyamorous relationship policy

On July 2, 2020 at 7:09 p.m. Boston Herald published an article by Rick Sobey on the new rule passed by the Somerville Massachusetts City Council. It states that last week it was voted 11-0 to approve a new polyamorous domestic partnership ordinance that was signed by Somerville Mayor Mr. Joe Curtatone. This policy is the first line of such reasoning passed in the United Sates.

This new ordinance was triggered by COVID-19 pandemic when some Somerville residents reached out to Council President Mr. Matthew McLaughlin pointing out that they can not visit their loved ones in the hospital who were sick with coronavirus. It had happened because Somerville didn’t acknowledge domestic partnerships, even-though Boston and Cambridge have already recognized domestic partnerships for several years. Due to the lack of this policy, city residents had difficulties to get added to their partner’s health insurance. This new passed ordinance will now allow city residents to secure much needed benefits. According to City Council, there has been an “outpouring of overwhelming support and gratitude and enthusiasm” since the policy passed. “There’s a great deal of excitement”

What is the polyamorous relationship?
Polyamory is defined as practicing or being open to intimate relationships with more than one person. Dating as a polyamorous person means you’re not looking for just one person to share a romantic or sexual connection with. The polyamorous relationship policy permits that more than two people can now be in an official domestic partnership that is now permitted in Somerville, Massachusetts.

Mr. Andy Izenson of the Chosen Family Law Center said that “This has done something really amazing in the discourse of family relationships, and the possibilities that it has opened up. It’s really exciting. It’s the bottom-up community work like this that creates genuine social change and acceptance.” Andy Izenson is adding that “There are a lot of different ways people define a family”.

Mr. Davis of Somerville City Council said that he hopes the new policy can inspire leaders in other cities and towns: “Hopefully other folks will see an article about it and say, ‘That sounds like a good idea” Davis said: “That’d be a great thing.”

Andy Izenson is adding that change is always difficult and a legal challenge is possible, but even if it’s brought to court and struck down, “Now everyone knows this can be done because we just watched it happen.” is the Elite Discreet Married Dating site.
